PATIENT SURGERY
BEFORE YOUR SURGERY
Your surgeon will require that you see your physician for a complete medical exam. His office will give you all the necessary paperwork.
You will be called by one of our nurses a day or two before your surgery. She will provide you with specific instructions for surgery day. Please have a list of all the medication you take and dosages. Bring the medications with you on surgery day.
If you have any special needs for transportation on surgery day or a translator, please advise us at the time of our preoperative telephone call. We will be happy to accommodate you.
DAY OF YOUR SURGERY
On the day of your surgery, you will be greeted by a member of our staff and escorted to the comfort of our waiting area.
You will then be personally escorted by one of our nurses, who will assist you into a surgical gown. You will not be required to remove any of your clothing.
The nurse will escort you into the preoperative area, where you will be greeted by the anesthesiologist and have an opportunity to speak with your physician.
The nurse will then administer eye drops, as ordered by your physician, before you are escorted into one of our ultra-modern surgical suites.
You will want to be certain to do the following on surgery day:
• Bring your insurance card with you.
• Wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothes.
• Bring all your medications with you.
• Leave jewelry and other personal belongings at home.
• Be certain to bring a responsible person to accompany you home.
AFTER YOUR SURGERY
At the end of your procedure, you will be taken back to our recovery area, where your companion may join you.
You will then be served a light snack and our nurse educator will explain your postoperative instructions.
The entire process, from admission to discharge is typically no longer than 2 1/2 hours.
